How bad is the smell? Do any of you live in Indigo Park apartments, hang out at Traction Sports, play at L'Auberge?

A friend is considering living at Indigo Park apts. and I'm hoping the upgrades that were done helped with the smell in the area.

Any insight is appreciated.

They just opened a section 8 complex next to Indigo Park if that means anything. It still stinks when I drive through there.

That place smells like shite unless you have a true South wind. I openly mock my younger cousin about his decision to live there. He grew up in West Monroe so I think the smell helps with his homesickness

That’s where they cook the poo and repackage it as Michelle Obama public school lunches.

The smell of bullets and dead bodies coming from Gardere is a bigger concern.

The smell is the least of your concerns. Go to the LA registered sex offender website and see home many live in Gardere. I think it’s like 30+

Then once you get past the sex offenders, know that hood trash will come check your cars every night, and probably check your doors during the day. If you leave anything good in sight, they’ll ignore the locks and break in

I lived off Burbank and Starring for a while. I don’t remember a particularly bad smell. It can be a bit ghetto sometimes, but I never had any issues. Some of my best memories in college happened there. It’s also where I met my wife.

It’s not as bad as people are saying. I’ve lived here (in Indigo Park) for 3 years now and haven’t had serious issues. I’ve heard of some car break-ins, but nothing I’ve experienced. Gardere is not a good area, but you really don’t experience it living on the Nicholson side. Also that low-income apartment has zero impact on my life so far, though I was worried it would.

As far as the waste treatment facility, probably one day a week to twice a month it bothers you, but nothing severe. Also important to note we live basically off Nicholson, so all the buildings on the Gardere side may have a different experience.

Just like any apartment complex, there are a variety of people, some louder and trashier than others. We looked at nicer places, but ultimately if you can’t afford to do better, it’s just fine. We are moving out in May to get a house, so it’s not a place to stay long-term, I just wouldn’t take advice from folks who haven’t lived there.

I’ve lived in Nicholson lakes for 6 years. The smell was bad when the wind blew south. The last 1.5 years i haven’t smelled anything at all.
