So you really think you just move someone to another position and they’ll excel?

I thought we should’ve tried Tory out on defense this year. Especially since we don’t need a fullback anymore. I believe he played DE in high school.

Yes that would be a great move. Leave the 4/5 star freshman and sophomore LBs on the bench. Or move them to kicker.

Major League Baseball?

Probably need to be a little more specific, don't you think?

Tory is one of my favorite Tigers I love his physicality but he’s just not fast enough to play LB in a 4-3, especially against all the spread offenses that would require him to drop into coverage. He could have played MLB back in the mid 2000s when teams still lined up in I-formations and 2 TE sets with the intention of running the ball a lot but that day has passed. He will once again be a special teams demon and hopefully he gets some snaps at TE/H-back also.

I’m not sure Carter has the speed to play LB in the spread era. He probably could have been an excellent MLB previously.

This a very misleading post. You should take this down or change the title

LSU's defense should be very good next year. Delpit is a big loss as is Fulton and Queen/Phillips. That being said, Phillips and Delpit had a down year. Queen didn't really start maturing until near the end. Fulton played well outside the beginning. Not really damaging pieces to pick up like when White left. Line lost a couple pieces but the biggest piece being Shelvin is still there. Pellini has no excuse but to have a great defense this year.

Jacoby should excel in his scheme especially since he likes S the size of LBs in the dime/nickel CB slots. The big questions will be will the DL depth be ready for rotation, what happens with LB, and who settles in front at S? Do they slide Vincent to FS where he's probably a more natural fit? I believe Jacoby will be SS but in packages he'll slide to CB in nickel/dime situations and maybe even possibly LB in full spread situations where you need more athleticism/speed on the field. I think he's going to be the player who makes money in this scheme. Monroe might finally get to see the field he's been hurt his entire career at LSU. Harris/Hampton/Monroe/Vincent(?)/Toles/Jacoby in roamer role seems like a nice problem to have at S.

One of the younger CBs will likely emerge to take Vincent's spot. Ricks will probably start somewhere. Lots of talent on this defense even with the departures.
