I would argue that not everyone thought he would leave. See the claims of a signed $1.8 million per year contract and the hundreds of downvotes for those claiming other possibilities.

Dude we already discussed this, he did agree to the contract just never signed, who cares? Doesn't stop him from going back to NFL.

LSU is where he would have stayed if not for the NFL. That's all the contract was about.

Keep arguing then but everyone knew he was jetting for the NFL sooner rather than later. It would have been great to keep him one more year but that would have been it. I thought Texas was hiring him as OC?

Fact is, he did sign it. It had a NFL clause. They knew about this.

Disinformation is a powerful tool. Coach O did what he had to do to prevent distraction prior to BTHO Clemson.

Good news for LSU is we have the right HC. TU will continue to suck under Herman.

No one wanted him to leave but he helped us when a NC and was offered a higher position in the NFl where he wanted to be. So how can you fault someone for taking that opportunity? With great success comes turnover especially in football NFL or NCAA just how it works.

I don’t know anyone who thought he would stay more than 1 more year...and that was before the title. After that...anything’s possible when his value is so high and he wouldn’t have Burrow.
