On The Athletic if you have a subscription - pulled out a few quotes below:

LINK

quote:

The Jefferson kid is talented. I don’t think he’s elite

quote:

Stingley is gonna be a great cornerback, but I think any wide receiver that is not afraid to use their hands can get him

quote:

Fulton) is just average. He is overly aggressive. I think (Clemson WR Tee) Higgins can get him

quote:

Delpit is a great player if you just let him play centerfield. He struggles in coverage and is horrible in open-field tackling.

quote:

safety Jacoby Stephens, a 6-3, 225-pound hybrid. “He’s the one guy who is out of position,” said one of the running backs coaches. “He needs to be a linebacker. He’s heavy-legged. We thought we could attack him. He’s a liability in coverage. He’s not a DB. He’s really stiff.

Seems if they were successful the coach wouldn't feel the need to be anonymous.

Not a fan of anonymous quotes.

Either put your name behind it or shut up.

Yes while beating 4 of the top 5 in the conference, the 5th being LSU themselves.

I don't see anything wrong with this comment. Elite is Julio Jones/AJ Greene level.

Sure, a big and talented WR will win some one on one battles. It happens. But I agree. Stingley is not only going to be a great cornerback, he is a great cornerback.

quote:

Fulton) is just average. He is overly aggressive. I think (Clemson WR Tee) Higgins can get him

Fulton is much better than average. Fulton will be a first rounder. First rounders are not average.

quote:

Delpit is a great player if you just let him play centerfield. He struggles in coverage and is horrible in open-field tackling.

I disagree. Delpit went through two bad periods of poor tackling. His first few games as a freshman and a few games this year playing hurt. Other than that he is a solid tackler.

I agree with this. Jacoby does really well covering TEs and RBs. This will translate well into the NFL.

The SEC coaches completely avoided throwing to his side of the field, then don't put him on their All-SEC Team and now want to talk smack. Pathetic.

Jefferson- led the SEC in receptions and TDs

Stingley- led the SEC in INTs as a freshman

Fulton- 44% completion rate against and possible (likely IMO) first round pick

Delpit- Thorpe award winner in a season that he played hurt down the stretch. Healthy now and likely a top 15 pick

Stephens- won SEC DPOW several times (I think 3) probably after playing those coaches that thought he could be exploited in coverage.

This is for the benefit of you Clemson fans visiting here

Didn’t really have any beef with those outside of the Fulton and Jefferson

Then read the article & you cut out the rest of the Jefferson quote to make it look worse than what it was

I mean...the guy said he wasn’t elite. It is what it is. That was the part of the quote that stuck out.

The one about Jacoby Stevens is truth. The guy is a liability in coverage. Especially when covering WRs.

some of those observations are mostly correct if you're not being a homer.
