I agree with placing a giant Fleur de Lis on top (Hello Gayle Benson) and renaming it Lis Circle...which phonetically is pronounced:
"Lee Circle."
"Lee Circle."

Because if they put up another statue, crime would get bad again.
Can't we just finally sit back and enjoy our low NO murder rate for a sec?
See how stupid you sound?

Why cant they throw up a statue of Louis Armstrong or Tom Benson (even if temporary) just to prevent us from looking like a former Communist wartorn state?

They'll eventually decide to put this up there on a turntable. They did already take ova for the 9 9 and the 2000s.

Because of the number in the Confederacy’s win column.
You better hope no confederate soldiers hear this. They will be pissed.
I'm sure your union brethren will buy you a flagon of ale for your quality post.
Now, are you brave enough to tempt fate by attempting to annoy other long dead peoples? Time will tell.

Why not put a fleur de lis on top, that would unite everyone.
That section of the city was never remotely French. American and some immigrants, but very few Creoles or "foreign French."

Just waiting for Brees to win that 2nd Super Bowl and put his statue up there and rename it "The Brees Way"

I’ve said for a while now that they need to put a statute of drew on it.

Lee Circle now, Lee Circle tomorrow, Lee Circle forever!

quote:No thanks. Benson was a piece of shite. I'm not venerating a guy for selling cars and owning the Saints. That's not really an honorable accomplishment.
My idea would be to rename Armstrong Park "Benson Park"

I can't forgive that
The team would have been gone a long time ago if it wasn't for him buying it.

Best proposal I've heard is to remove the whole pedestal, and replace it with a flat performance area for future events/concerts. There could be outdoor concerts similar to Champion's Square throughout the year.

Especially when they could put up a statue of me.

Amazing to me that everyone seems to have forgotten that he tried to steal the Saints away in the middle of the night while we were recovering from the storm. It was such a shitty thing to do that even the NFL (who hates New Orleans for some reason) knew it was wrong and stopped him. I can't forgive that.
I can. He is a businessman, and a lot of businesses left. Those were very unsure times back then. People seem to forget how bad the franchise was 2003 - 2004. Terrible on-field product, not a lot of fan support. No season ticket sellouts, that's for sure. No waiting lists.
I can forgive just about any decision made during that time period. We were in truly unchartered waters.
