well they did exactly that when taking it down..

That was Mitch.

Look... I'm no fan of LaToya, but she's better than Mitch was... she at least isn't completely tone-deaf.

It doesn't have to remain vacant, but the city has more pressing matters.

Could you imagine the pushback, just on this board, if the city spent a million or something rehabbing the site and putting a new statue up there?

they are in the process right now making a bronze obama statue with a heavenly halo on his head

i like the empty pedestal as a tribute to the stupidity of virtue signaling

Best proposal I've heard is to remove the whole pedestal, and replace it with a flat performance area for future events/concerts. There could be outdoor concerts similar to Champion's Square throughout the year.

My only concern is the homeless taking the area over. It is already pretty bad.

While it sounds cool the inside of a traffic circle would be a horrible location for something like that.

Wasn't there some committee put together under Cantrell. JP was approached and backed out of taking them.

I forgot the details of that story.

The circle already gets shut down for days at a time during Mardi Gras every year.

I have some family members, wife’s side, who would happily accept a giant Trump statue in the Zuppardo’s parking lot.

They're waiting for Ray Nagin to get out of prison so he can sit for a proper bust.
