You have it backwards. Lucas took 60s western TV shows and turned it into Star Wars.

He turned that into a space epic. This show is much more true to those 60s western shows and their style and story, which is what I mean.

The x wings at the end was a subtle but really good element for me. It adds to the sense that there are x wing pilots just going to work and doing patrols every day. Just living life as part of the new republic.

You know..........shite that adds depth to the world?

My only nit-pick is the Xwings just destroy it at the end? No need to figure out more?

This was my only complaint about the episode, if you wanna call it that. The X wing fighters are responding to a distress beacon and go into attack mode. That to me didn’t make sense simply because I can’t rectify attacking something that is signaling it’s in distress. Why would the X wing fighters come in guns blazing and obliterate the source of a distress beacon?

Guy on the prison ship kind of explained it as a beacon to alert them of a breach....indicating that the prisoners may be breaking out or the ship is compromised

This beacon alerted them to just destroy wherever....insinuating that the prisoners are where the beacon is i guess

They saw that they were launching a fighter drone. Plus, I think the protocol, as vaguely explained by Mando was that they had standing orders to destroy the ship if the beacon was activated.

Of course, that made more sense because it was supposed to be a droid only ship. I don't know where the dude came from.

So, it's a prison transfer, with additional (human) security in place, and a kill switch enabled in the event someone gets loose.

Kinda makes you wonder who else is on that ship. I don't think it's for the Twi'lek.

The way the episode ended, I think they definitely left it open for future story lines. This was the first episode in which all the bad guys weren’t eliminated.

Great episode. I would like them to advance the story a little more. Obviously the show is inspired a lot by westerns but it reminds me of the show Kung Fu too.

Is it OK yet to say the show is kind of boring? The last three episodes have done nothing to advance the plot. We know neither Baby Yoda nor Mando are going to die, so there is no threat or tension. We also have no connection to any of the costars, since they’re all new every episode. Why should I care about anything that’s happening?

It’s a truly episodic series in the classic sense. You didn’t expect The Fugitive to find the one armed man every week. You didn’t expect Bruce Banner to find his cure. You knew that Alias Smith and Jones would never get pardoned. You can’t judge this show against Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad. It’s a totally different species.

Much better than the last episode

Even though he’s an LSU fan, glad to see shitbird Bill Burr murdered. Wish they had shown more.

I got the impression that the beacon was basically a “shite has hit the fan” button and destroy at all costs more or less.

Didn’t realize the red alien was the guard from Shawshank and the chick alien was Osha, the wildling from GOTs

ETA: I can’t believe no one has brought up that scene where the lights were flickering on and off as Mando was approaching from behind. That was incredible film making.

I think a couple of people early in the thread did admire that scene.

I thought the episode was decent. I thought some of the members of the gang were a bit too stereotypical and wooden. The big muscle guy in particular with the "you look small" stuff. The Twi chick also to an extent, though the she did remind me of some real life crazy chicks I've known.
