Nobody ever wore 20 again after Cannon. If Joe has the same two major accomplishments, he probably deserves the same honor.

Didn't know they retired no. 20 that quickly. In that case, retire it January 14!

Good information. So retiring a jersey does not mean it can never be worn again in 8 of the 13 cases.

Whether we win the national title should make no difference. If Burrow wins the Heisman, which seems like a given, his number should be retired.

It’s crazy to think that they would retire the same number that Jordan Jefferson wore

being he will win the Heisman, making him only the 2nd ever at LSU, i'd have to say yes... if you retired the other Heisman winner's number, you have to do the same with Burrow...

I think the jersey, but not the number. I think they changed the policy about retiring numbers.

Plus, Marcel Brooks wears #9 on defense now and has a bright future ahead of him.
I think retiring jerseys is fine. I don't know if the modern demands of football is amenable to retiring numbers, especially on a team that aspires to greatness.
Frankly, we should "unretire" #20. Maybe put the "Heisman" numbers in a similar special category as 18 and 7 (earned, in other words)?

Did they retire #20? There’s no #20 on this team. If so, then yes.

So if the guy wins the 2nd heisman ever and a championship, is he not deserving of a statue down the road?

I am not a fan of retiring numbers. They are already going to build a statue of Joe! No need to retire another number. JMO
