The game-ending brawls were not just a recent phenomenon. My late uncle who played for Tulane in the 1930's used to tell me stories--with a big grin on his face--of similar endings to their games back then.

We played Tulane just a few years ago...and again in 2006.

Yeah, get ahold of Pete Finney's old book on LSU football. He has a pic from that era of when Tiger Stadium was surrounded by sugarcane fields, showing how the fans ran out to pull up cane reeds after the game to beat the hell out of each other on the football field with.
