Also England developed a dry mix concrete mixed with steel fibers from recycled tires. It sets up faster requiring less road closure time while also being more durable. Plus it’s cheaper than traditional concrete.
Other States have been using the rubber pellets for rubberized asphalt for decades. It’s also more durable and quiet than regular asphalt.
Considering the shape of our roadways it’s too much common sense for Louisiana.

Remember Gravy is somehow on a “council” for NBR whose literal goal is to bring business there
Seriously how does he have income?

Bump with update. The resident genius that represents NBR plans to file a lawsuit blocking the shredder from being placed at the airport location that was chosen, not because it was in her district, but because that is where most of the tires are illegally dumped. Wonder how she plans to pay for this lawsuit? Almost as big a waste of court time as Broomehilda’s St. George suit. Yeah, by all means, let’s turn down this $660K freebie from the CDC. Idiot.

SWB, Gravy and the SJW's say that NBR needs a bike path and midnight basketball games instead of new businesses providing jobs.

Gary knows that those from NBR who are not employed probably won't be able to get a job. Being employable is more a problem than job availability.
Sad but true

There’s one thing they have too much of in North Baton Rouge....and that’s jobs.
No more jobs!

It's not like they are proposing this thing right in the middle of somebody's neighborhood either. It's out by the airport and the parish prison

We'll take it in St. George. Put it under the interstate right before Highland where they make all those concrete barriers.

There probably aren't enough tires on the side of the road in St George. Transportation costs would be too high.

It's a solution for people who have been complaining in her district and of course she comes out against it like it's some racis thing.
Chauna is a one-trick pony. All she knows how to do is play the race card.
White-owned business doesn't want to locate in NBR = racism
White-owned business does want to locate in NBR = racism
Police target criminals in NBR = racism
Police don't want to venture into some dangerous areas of NBR = racism
News story comes out stating that she used campaign funds to buy wigs, clothes, manicures, etc. = racism
She may be the dumbest person ever to hold public office in Baton Rouge, and that's saying something.

For every tire shredding business they want a whole foods grocery store to open next door.
Posted on 12/20/19 at 9:29 am to Bedhog
All of the tires are sitting in yards in NBR already. I don't know why people can't dispose of tires properly.

The tire shredding facility was set to be located on Progress Road near the Baton Rouge Airport, an area in Councilwoman Chauna Banks’ district. She tells WAFB’s Donovan Jackson she plans to file a lawsuit in opposition of the proposed location.

I’m sure that the noise and dust from taxpayer funded demolition of abandoned buildings also interferes with the fine quality of life that NBR residents have created for themselves.

There's also a mandate that requires the jobs be given to residents living within 4 miles of the business. Average pay of $45k where the household average income is less than $30k. She's fricking stupid.

If the NBR Development district was smart they could have made money off this.
Contract with EBRP Govt for a fee to clean up tire dumps using inmate labor, haul tires to their site using DPW trucks no cost to them, shred tires, and keep 100% of the proceeds from scrap rubber.
In the contract allow the company to compete with present recyclers recycling tires from tire shops. Give their customers a property tax break of $1 per tire they send to this place to recycle.
The business could have taken possession of the machine under a long term low cost lease to purchase agreement.
Locate it in a warehouse district in NBR on city owned land leasing it for next to nothing.
This would benefit their area with a few jobs while getting paid to clean up their community on the tax payers dime.
