Distraught Special Ops because of Syria pull out

Jennifer Griffin on Fox reporting this.
So wait now the military wants to be used as the world’s policeman?
All of these years I was told that the military doesn’t like being involved with operations that don’t have a clear mission to accomplish - you know get in win and get out.
Now I am told that the soldiers in Syria are apoplectic because the commander in Chief has removed them from the front lines of a situation that has a ZERO END GAME
So which is it military? You want to be the world police or not?

OP wants a single, unified and unambiguous answer from the two million people in the US military.

I’ll ask my in law who trained Kurds in the Middle East and is happy we are getting out if they interviewed him

Those SpecOps guys get very attached to their local assets and are concerned about their well-being. I am certain that is what this is about.

It's not Syria, it's leaving the Kurds.

I used to think the US military was all pulling the rope in the same direction, especially when I was in the Army. Sadly, this is not the case...fro E-1 to flag officers.

Could it be that our troops forged battle bonds with the Kurdish forces they fought alongside against ISIS? It's got to be hard to stand on the sidelines and watch them get demolished by the Turks.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

Operators like to operate. Nothing surprising there.
But, I'm sure they've probably developed good relations with the Kurds as they're good people.

It’s about honor.
When talking heads talk about credibility, they’re using it as a code word for honor.
And for the soldiers, they’re walking away from people they made a commitment to. Which is a stain on their honor. But this was always going to happen.
Obama and CENTCOM (because they’ve pushed hard for all of this) made impossible promises. We were always going to leave. And it was never going to be pretty.
Look at what Congress did in Vietnam. Look at what we’ve always done to our native allies.
As one commentator noted. We imprisoned the apache guides who helped us capture geronimo. That’s how we thanked them.
Leaving is the right thing. We should never have been there in the first place. In some ways we’re just paying the inevitable price for our foolishness.

For those that are distraught about leaving Syria, let them know they can still police brown people on our border with Mexico.

This is very divisive among Trump supporters, especially the Reps. He is going to need all Republicans on board. You guys understand that a handful of Republican Senators could turn and convict Trump in the Senate and he is gone? He gave his enemies the pathway.

This is all just too contrived. The minute we pull 50 soldiers out Turkey invades and people start dying.
Clown world.
Clown world.

Graham tweeted the evangelical preacher yesterday invoking prayer for the Christians killed there if Trump pulls out.

They probably want to beleive in what they were doing. That's reasonable. And, it underscores all of the good things about the military...that they blindly accept these tasks that aren't always (at least in hindsight) worth the cost that we've incurred.
None of that has anything to do with whether this is the right decision though.

Ain’t no soldier unhappy about coming home.

Yes. I have spoken to many who seem to have no problem with this. I no longer care as much about this issue as a result.
If a majority US military personnel are not opposed to being used as the Global Police Force, if a majority of Veterans are not opposed to it, I myself will soften my own opposition.
I don't see that our Wounded Warriors are provided with the proper treatment by the US FedGov, and, by being the Global Police Force, we are making more and more of them every day, BUT, that doesn't seem to change the paradigm.
I simply do not see a ground-swell of support among Vets for ending the US military's role as World Police.
One day there are going to be a bunch of angry Veterans standing in line behind illegal aliens for medical care. If I am asked "how could this happen?" I'll answer -- we did this to ourselves. This is a self-inflicted wound.

It's understandable, but it shouldn't matter. I'm sure there are lots of police officers who would be disappointed if someone took away their paramilitary gear and kneecapped their civil asset forfeiture power, but that doesn't mean doing so would be a bad thing.
