I have a pistol that has sat in some kind of powder for I don't know how many years. I found it after my father passed away. It needs so many things that it's going to be impossible to piece it back together. But the serviceable part of the pistol is the part with the actual serial number. So I'm totally lost here because I've never been put in this position of having to get rid of a firearm.

Sadly I still miss all the rest that fell out of my boat.

#1 4in grinder cut off wheel
#2 heat up in a fire pit on a bed of coals and hit a few times with a 5 pound maul.
#3 give it to a boy between 8-13 and tell him there’s no way in hell he can make it unrecognizable, sit back and drink a beer and let him do his thing.

have you thought about selling it to Alx? He'd put so many safety features on it that the thing would be useless.

The legal way is 3 cuts through the receiver with a torch, a grinder or saw or anything else is not legal.

Have any fishing trips scheduled soon? Sounds like a boating accident may be beneficial.

Time tested method is throwing it in a body of deep water. Preferably salty.

Chop saw. It's what the police do with guns in the UK when people decide to get rid of them. They can't really sell them so they have them destroyed. Pretty routine.

Find a gun buy back and sell it to them if there's one in your area

An acetylene torch will make a puddle out of it.
