We ate at the Allie Corone this summer. It was pretty good. Harry’s Bar was worth the stop as well. My favorite part of Venice was basically bar hopping around the market during the day time eating litttle sandwiches and such at different places. Our favorite restaurants were in and around Positano.

I second this- a lot of the “nicer” fine dining places bring in stuff from frozen because Venice has very few locals and tourists aren’t typically a rich source of repeat business (and most don’t know the quality difference). Little sandwiches in St. Marks square are a lovely way to pass lunch or or early evening. Some of the pizza places are quite good.
