As a Texas fan, what should I expect from LSU? I know the replies will be dramatic, but what position groups do you expect to dominate? We all know about the highly touted DBs, but what else is your strength?

Damn. We really are far more brutal than Texas message board lol. When I posted on there I got like 2 "go frick your self corndog" type replies. But most of the replies I got on surly were just them picking apart numbers to tell me LSU has a weak oline and weak running game so we'll have no offense vs them.

LSU didn't exactly light up La Tech last year. They had 417 yards of offense on us. Granted that was the week after the 1 point victory against #7 Auburn. So playing a weak non-conf game after a huge slug fest does have an affect.

My point is that pointing to LaTech/UT game to criticize UT isn't our best or strongest point since LSU didn't look great against them in 2018.

I think UGA is probably the best comparison from 2018, but UT lost a lot of guys from that team.

I believe LSU wins by 10 but I'm concerned with our OL in run and pass blocking. If UT plans on blitzing and testing the OL, they will have a big test. If blitzing is becoming a prob for LSU that can be helped a lot by play-calling.

UT's defense looks bad on paper for 2018 and it isnt as good as LSU's. However, I will acknowledge that Big 12 defense rankings get hammered more because of the style offenses the Big 12 runs. So they aren't as bad as the 2018 rankings show, IMO.

Because your coach kisses your players.

If you think fans chirping on a fan site is indicative of the fanbase thinking this will be a cake walk then I can see why you might expect serious answers to your question here.

I feel LSU has the edge in all aspects except maybe your QB's feet. Texas has enough talent to keep it close but by the 4th quarter, LSUs deep talent will pull away.

I'm sure it's been said, but to reiterate, I don't expect the Horns to be able to run the football on us. If you can't run the ball, you'll have a long game against our defense.

If you watch our D, you'll see that we typically take away the run and make teams one-dimensional. We're good at putting the other team's O in long down and distance where we can dial up pressure. Our CB's give pretty tight throwing windows. Ehlinger's a good QB; how he handles the pressure will be the tale of the tape. Yes, Tua had a good game against us last year, but we made most other QB's look below average.

I think LSau wins the turnover battle because of a more mature defense, and high talent at many positions on D (very hard to scheme around that much talent)

Going on the road against a top 20 team is always scary.

I like our return game and think it will play big in field position

Haha it's fun! I'll stick around even after the game but obviously not near this active. Now when y'all prepare to destroy the Ags.. we will all be on the same side.

After last years SEC helping to make sure that Dumbo Fisher got his first signature win because of the $70mil he got paid! We now feel close to what you feel! There is now hate in that game!

I for one want to say, you are welcome on this board anytime! You have been respectful as hell on all your posts here! Please don’t let some of the more immature posters on this board run you off, every board has those kinds of knuckleheads on their site and we definitely have ours!

I enjoy it because it is nice to hear the opposing viewpoint on game week because all you read most of the time are the same viewpoints from the same homers week after week! And after reading your posts you seem like a pretty cool guy!

So thanks for stopping bye and as I stated “good luck” just not this Saturday!!! lol lol lol

Confident ?? I’m not. Not me.

When I think of UT, I actually get kinda queasy.

I really want our Tigers to win this game.

But my knees kinda buckle, when I think of how good (and talented) UT actually is.

And we’ve got freshmen everywhere.
And we haven’t really played anybody yet.
And we’re away from home.
And Austin is hot.
And y’all got that big stadium.
And the UT team is mean.

I guess I’ll turn off the TV, and just wait to hear what the final score is.

It would be too depressing to actually watch it happen, live.

Especially us poor NE La folk who save for years to go to 1 LSU game and drink something besides PBR for a change and maybe make burgers out of 80/20 meat

I prefer 80/20, need a little fat for moisture and flavor

Cosmi was an All American last season

On the freshman All American team. He certainly wasn’t on any major AA teams.. i didn’t even even see him listed on the All B12 team.

Not saying he’s not good but he’s going up against an experienced D line.

I think LSU is the better team with more returning starters. Texas is talented and well coached so I expect a close game barring a meltdown by either team. I expect LSU to win but it’s football and ball takes funny bounces.

BTW neither fanbase is short of delusional folks expecting a beat down.

Here's an honest answer:

I think LSU is overlooked and underestimated. I think the losing streak vs Alabama is overly coloring the perception of this team.

No offense to Texas, or Auburn or anyone else on the schedule... but I think the LSU-Alabama game should be a pick-em and LSU should win the rest relatively easily.

In other words, I think LSU should be Top 4, with serious #1 consideration.

We have a lot of experienced players coming back, and at the spots we lost players, we seem to have elite players stepping in (probable upgrades at those spots). This should be a much better team than last year's, and last year's was 10-3.

Since you asked Texas is depleted at running back, one scholarship back and he’s had some injuries. I expect the running game to have issues. I believe Ehlinger will have to throw more than he wants to and I dont think he can do that consistently on our dbacks. I also think our pressure will get to him 2-3 times this game. Our offense will demonstrate a strong running game from a diverse backfield and I don’t think Texas has the players to stop it. I think our receivers will find enough seams to make a few big catches when we need to. Finally I believe in our coaches more than I do Herman and his staff. It ll be closer than some think but LSU won’t be in serious trouble for the win.
