Low voltage wire can be spliced. Use waterproof wire nuts and/or tape the shite out of the wire nuts.

I soldered the wire and used heat shrink plus a ton of tape when I had to cut a piece, but it’s buried in some poorly drained soil.

This is the correct answer. I added another 50' of line to mine and spliced it, used the waterproof nuts, and put enough electrical tape on there to make a certified electrician shake his head in disgust
