I enjoy cutting my own yard. I like having a few and throwing on the headphones and zoning for a few hours every other Saturday afternoon.

Before zero turns it was 6 hours.

I have a heavy Kubota diesel Zero Turn. I have to vary my patterns weekly or will get the ruts. Although a properly leveled deck with good sharp blades make for a pretty cut. It’s hard to get good stripes on St Aug unless you cut it really high. It doesn’t like to lay down like the turf grasses.

I did go one summer cutting at 3.5 and could get decent stripes, but had to cut twice a week. Wasn’t worth it.

I hate all and every last bit of it. I finished mine today and it took about four hours. I used a zero turn and beyond the loss of the old clean patterns, that sucker just tears up my lawn when I make a turn. Unfortunately my lawn has a pretty good slope to a waterfront so it ain't easy like those flat lawns in south Louisiana or Harris County, Texas.

you can still do striped pattern with a zero turn... my neighbor does...

all i have a regular riding mower, and was the 1st one in my neighborhood to diagonally cut, but now most people do it, like him too, and they all have stripes...

Anyone on this thread that hates weed eating needs to see the light:

Take 5 minutes to replace that awful two line feeder with this and thank me later.

Used to have a 30" single blade rear engine that gave me a great cut. Dumbasss me then got a 42" zero turn. Mistake, especially since I like sipping a beer on a hot day cutting grass. Weed eating and edging is just more time to sip beer. But I ubderstand......

Most come with them or have them as options or std when go from residential to large property owner units and above. It will be a decent job.

Your not going to get the sports field quality of cut. Done with different animal like Infinicut

You can do that with a zero turn. You cut one direction then spin around and go the opposite

Thankfully I have a yard guy that takes pride in his work. He mows my yard totally different then I would but I don't mind. He has a big zero turn and it leaves nice lines in the yard and I can't complain

As far as the weed eating killing you. The last time I mowed and weed eated was the day I hired someone, I thought I was going to have a heat stroke after weed eating.

I mow my own lawn with my zero turn and still make beautiful stripes. Even my neighbor starting copying my style. Just because you have a zero turn doesn’t mean you can’t create your designs. Tell your lawn boy how you want it cut or find someone else. Pretty damn simple unless you are a p u s s y.

We have a spray thing in the back of the yard cart. It’s awesome.

4 acres; 2 hours to cut and spray.

Plus a few hours yelling at the kids to pick up sticks.

Just ordered a California power reel. 20” cut. Palisade zoysia is the nicest grass out there right now. Cuts low, feels good, and maybe not as shade tolerance as st aug but damn close. Just pushing it with a cheap toro until it gets established

Lawnscapers are just trying to get in and out as fast as they can. They don’t take pride in the appearance of your lawn like you would.
