re: Cost of living in Houston

I just protested my taxes yesterday in Galveston Co and won. The comps they pulled were outside my neighborhood. I had a real estate agent pull the comps sold last year IN my neighborhood and there was quite a spread between their “indicated” value (based on their comps) and the actual price per sq ft value of properties sold in my neighborhood. It took 3 seconds for the panel to determine that the comps pulled by the assessor and actual sales values were way off. They didn’t even look at the other supporting info or pictures I brought.
