Awards assembly today. Five minutes were spent handing out academic awards to Oliver and Waldo. Once they got that out of the way, the principal handed the mic over to the school AD. The next 45 minutes were spent handing out athletic awards, despite the same awards being announced at an athletic banquet last week. Then to cap off the festivities, a handpicked group of athletes faced off against the teachers and support staff in a friendly game of tug of war. The students lost the tug of war only because the school janitor served as the other team's anchor and the school's best athlete wasn't allowed to participate because his father worried he would hurt his pitching arm with some important games coming up. The science, math, and drama clubs never got their time in the spotlight today. Felt bad for those kids.

Take the principal to his office and PIIHB.

Then take the AD to his office and fight him.

Problem solved.

Athletic awards at an elementary school? Did they compete in PE?

I've seen friends posting about their kids' having ceremonies and awards just for moving to the next grade. It's not enough that a kid gets a "good job" for going (for example) from 2nd to 3rd grade, now there has to be a massive celebration.

My town's middle school is next door to the high school, and there's a ditch between them. They have a "crossing the ditch" ceremony at the end of 8th grade. I am not shitting you.

I am 100% confident that I’ll have work for as long as I want it, because the generations coming out of schools now won’t produce the same numbers of competent workers.

“Idiocracy”, but in the short term it’s working to my benefit.

You know some teacher raises and more academic funding will fix this right? More taxation, more money thrown at the school! That will fix it every time! All they need is 10,000% more funding!

Need pics of hot elementary school teachers in order to accurately assess how out of "whack" things are at your kids' school

I still remember awards day at my kid's elementary school, or every kid gets something day.

My kid was by far the best student in several subjects. Her math scores were near perfect, but some other kid got the math award.

My kid had the guts to ask why. The answer? Well, I couldn't give you everything.

My reply? Earning something is a lot different than having it handed to you.

PC crap really pissed me off.
