Actually missed the pick off of Josh on 1st base answering a question to a person sitting next to me. Anybody have a replay? One person who saw it said the pitcher balked and was not called. I looked up in time to see 1st baseman walk over to him and apply tag. Did he just freeze?

Announcers said definitely a balk.

I’ve never been good at seeing/calling balks.

Obvious baI’ll on the pitcher but wasn’t called. It was obvious enough that Paul comes running out of the dugout. Or PM’s version of running.

Looks like the umpire crew missed it too.

Umped for a very long time. I missed calls. We all miss calls. What was disappointing was the rest of the crew missed it. When my son played, he was taught to read the umpire for tendencies just like players.
It was a balk. His knee buckled as well.

Obvious balk when pitcher wriggled his front leg. TV replay was very clear!

No question it was a balk. Blatant.

DEFINITE balk. Smith didn't move because the pitcher committed to deliver a pitch or go anywhere but first, so Smith had no reason to get back to the bag. That's why the pitcher going to first instead of delivering the pitch was a balk. Runners with leads have no chance if the pitcher can fake them out, as we saw.
