Yeah different website said 6'8" but combine was 6'7".

Even still you pick that point and ignore the tallest ever player being a DT at 7'0" and one of the best DEs ever being 6'10".

The more accurate statement is guys that are 6'9" plus are almost always linemen, not just olinemen. They have been a number of these guys on both sides, as well as a TE or two.

Very likely embellished but even so my point stands. They are more likely to move him to OL than him sniffing the roster as a DL.

He’s not a DL either

And likely wasn’t a legit 6’8” either. Both he & too tall Jones pre date the combine.

No reason to get butt hurt. Was just stupid to even pick an argument over

Good discussion actually. I think the original comment holds merit. There are two (really maybe three) issues with playing football above a certain height. First is foot speed. Longer legs mean longer strides but that doesn't help in lineman. Just due to length, taller generally means slower foot speed. Next is center of gravity which for a male is generally around the naval. Obviously in the trenches a lower center of gravity is preferable and at some point it can be just to high to be effective. The third, as someone mentioned, is taller kids tend to gravitate to basketball so I guess that's why you see a reduced number playing football.

Lester (who I rarely agree with ) is correct in pointing out many who have succeeded, but there are exceptions to any rule. Above a certain height you have a higher hurdle to overcome to play in the NFL.
