Yeah stars are fun, especially when the highlights match the rating.
But at the same time, when we were in the hunt for Tyrann Mathieu who was a three star on Rivals when he committed (became a 4 star the next day), I was like “I don’t care if he is a 2 star. This dude plays like a 5 star!”

I love the people that always use Tyrann as an example. He could have been a 6-star and he still would have outplayed his ratings/expectations.
He's an anomaly.
Also this is not directed at Freek, just fans in general.

How does this even work?
ESPN. They have him as the 3rd best CB. 247 has him at #1, but the composite is #2 due to the ESPN ranking.

He covers like no other corner. He's one of the best, if not the best, I've seen coming out of high school. He runs a 4.5 yet has closing speed like I've never seen.

I think Ringo ends up being a Texas vs Georgia head to head battle

I am 99% sure Mathieu became a 4* after his visit to the Tennessee camp, which took place before he committed to LSU

Did the CB now ranked #1 commit to Bama? Lol.

I don’t care where he’s rated. I just hope he makes it to campus

Yea somewhat out of nowhere Bill Kurelic for OSU said he still feels good OSU flips him. I don't see that since Ricks has brought in a ton of recruits for LSU, but with recruiting as we all should have learned, you never know. Things change with 17 year olds so quickly
I do think Ricks is close with Lejond for OSU

Lol the film isn’t even close. I never seen a better cb highlight film in my life. I’ll take Ricks any day!
Mr. Stingley says hello

Stingley will likely end up one of the greatest corners ever, and ESPN had him at 20 something.

They cover differently. Stingley gets on his man and stays on him.
Ricks glances at the QB and sees what he's doing then covers ground to his man with an amazing burst of speed. When you think that Ricks is a 4.5 guy it makes it even more amazing.

I am 99% sure
Actually, after the Tenn camp, Tyrann was a consensus/composite 3-star by Rivals, Scout and ESPN on July 22, 2009 the day he committed to LSU.
The very next day on July 23rd, only Rivals bumped him up to a 4-star. He remained an overall composite 3-star.
I can't link it but google or search TD for "Debate Settled: Tyrann Mathieu was a consensus 3-star". The research has been done.

I've seen both and no way Stingley's is better. Nothing against Stingley but Ricks is a damn ball hawk in his film.
Stingley wasn’t thrown at during his senior season. Ricks may go through the same thing in the fall, as well.

Bub, have you seen Stingley's stats? His junior year he was thrown at 18 times and had like 11 picks and 1 completion
Then was avoided his entire senior year.
And his performances at all star games and combines? He is a physical freak of nature. And he's a very bright kid with a great work ethic and some serious family pedigree.
He's a generational talent.
ETA:
Ricks is elite, but Stingley joined the team for bowl practices as a 17 year old high schooler basically and our coaches said he was the best player on the field. Kary Vincent said he was a once in a lifetime player after those practices.
And he's going to be the best returner we've had in a long time.

Exactly, ESPNs rankings are horrendous, always have been.....and its just a few spots....don't care about this at all.

Now imagine he commits to Bama

I love how people are taking this as me dogging Stingley. I think he will be an animal for us, I'm talking about highlight tape alone. Ricks' highlight tape is ridiculous.. just my opinion, "Bub."
