It's not a huge deal, but do NOT be surprised if...

...very shortly after he takes the job Woody goes out and buys Kim Mulkey as the women's hoops coach.
You can't get a better time to do it given that she just won the national championship, and there were stupid articles about her coaching the LSU men's team. We went through four years of the Kramer Robertson business not long ago, and the only real obstacle to it was the $2 million she makes. Well, we now have a guy who laughs at those kinds of obstacles - he just signed Buzz Williams to a contract that starts at $3.8 million a year and escalates to $4.4 million in its 6th year. $2 million is nothing.
Nothing would mark Woody's arrival as the new sheriff in town better than running Fargas and bringing Mulkey in. It's an obvious move. And the reason you hire a Scott Woodward is to make the obvious moves happen.
I wouldn't bet against it happening. Not even by the end of the month.

I think that would be a pretty big deal...and would welcome that change!

As much as I want Fargas gone, and she should be
I seriously doubt he gets rid of her within the first few months on campus but who knows. I'm all for making a run at Mulkey though I don't think she will jump but it can't hurt to entertain it. You never know until you try.
Would be a grand welcoming. Removing her and making a big hire would sit really well with the entire fanbase.

I think I’d prefer Kramers mom.

Scott had an open checkbook at his last stop. Not sure he has that here unless our new special assistant to the President for fundraising gets it done.

it is the first position I hope he deals with

How would hiring Kim Mulkey not be a huge deal?

Mulkey will be a tough pull for a lot of reasons but Woodard has shown he can pull off not so likely hires. She has been at Baylor nearly 20 years and hasn't lost 100 games yet. She has won 3 national titles. There is no doubt she is one of the top 2 or 3 coaches in WBB. The fact that they are one of the only bright spots in Baylor athletics also means they will do everything they can to keep her. She has to have a reason besides money to want to leave.
In terms of athletic budget and salary, I don't think paying a guaranteed home run WBB coach will be an issue. It's not like we would be taking a chance on an up and comer or an above average coach. Our major revenue and only profitable sports (football, MBB, and baseball) are in great positions right now imo to maintain and/or exceed our current success and profits. While we may have the capability to pay her whatever is necessary, I do not believe that is what gets her to leave Baylor anyway.
Our WBB program right now is dead and all you have to do is look back to the Pokey days to see what it could be. Hell that's the only time most of us ever even watched or cared about LSU WBB.

Not sure how you concluded hiring a three time national winning coach is not a huge deal. It would be a huge deal.

I can’t believe this much thought was put into writing about women’s basketball...

No offense but if Women's basketball is one of his priorities I will be surprised and he will be on the wrong track.

I’m sorry. I just can’t get excited about LSU paying big dollars for a sport very few people care about. I’d much rather Woodward spend AD money on revenue generating sports and capital projects (like a new pmac)

$2MM for a program that will always be in the red...not sure I can get behind that.

It’s be awesome to have her coaching. Hope it happens
