Yes, you still need a sponsor but if OP is reasonably connected and doesn't wear flat bills and cargo shorts...he'd likely be fine. His company is willing to pay for membership, so I'm guessing he checks the boxes on the above.

You are correct. I do have connections and they have both offered to introduce me to the clubs but seems to be half hearted because they don't want "new blood". Could be completely wrong but that is my feeling when discussing the possibilities.
Really comes down to the quality of the golf course and its golf facilities. Everything else is noise.
