I’ll put it this way! Alleva came from duke !!!!

For OP... Hey Hoe!

Exactly.... Our AD, no matter how many dislike him, came from Duke and hired Will Wade, therefore he wants to protect his hire and his job by making LSU a Blue Blood. This great success in basketball is also a way to leverage the risk of the Orgeron hire and any job security for the AD.

From what Will Wade has done thus far, he will give Wad what he wants in facilities, upgrades, recruiting budgets, and pay to keep him as he wants LSU to be like the top schools like the following 6 Tier 1 Blue Blood programs:

1. Kentucky
2. Duke
3. North Carolina
4. Kansas
5. UCLA (still there from last decade 3 final fours and what Wooden built)
6. Indiana (on the way out of blue blood status if no good in the next decade). What made them a blue blood?

Bobby Knight- Coached Indiana from 1971-2000 30 years, plus another 15 years coaching other teams (Won 903 games)
3 NCAA titles (1976 undefeated, 1981, 1987)
1 NIT title
Won 11 Big Ten Championships

SO, in my theory, they had 2 decades after Night to uphold blue blood status. Time is up!!

Next Tier 2 (who are not true Blue Bloods yet but some have a case for being close, especially with a solid 10 year scope of work with multiple deep NCAA tournament runs with a couple of titles)

1. Syracuse
2. Villanova- The new hottest team to make a case after a strong recent run and title in 2016 by beating blue blood North Carolina and semifinal run in 2009, but lost to North Carolina in the semis. Even after a history of 37 NCAA's and 5 final fours, it will take another strong decade and 1-2 more titles or many elite 8's to establish as a Tier 1 blue blood
3. Georgetown- Thompson left, many years of bad performance. On the way out
U-Conn
Michigan State- Izzo got them close but they need another solid decade then can advance to Tier 1
Michigan- Had some great teams since the Fab 5, and went to many final 4's, but more work this next decade. And always will be a football school so Tier 2 only

Notice how I keep mentioning decades because true Blue Blood status takes a lot of time, 10-20 years of solid play, tournament runs, a few final fours, and minimum 2 overall titles, bring in huge money from boosters, establish a great head coach, etc... And an old blue blood who might fall out of the club is like Indiana is now as Bobby Night is long gone, and the program has regressed, therefore on the way out. But just like it takes them 10-20 years to become one, it takes a whole decade to fall out from the club.

Why I wrote all this? Because I feel we are a top 10 program with this coach, and can be even more and advance to Tier 2 blue blood status with a solid 10 year run of 8-9 NCAA big dances, including 2 final fours (1 Title), 3 total Elite 8, and 4-5 sweet 16's. If we want to be on the top blue blood lists, have a great 20 year run with Will Wade with 4-5 final fours, 3 titles, 6 elite 8, 8 sweet 16's, then we are a blue blood! Wade coaches for 25-30 years like Coach K and he is a Top 1-3 paid coach like Coach K, Calapari and Bill Self

Indiana

I think they dropped out of Tier 1 a while back. They haven't been relevant in ages. Last Final Four was 17 years ago.

I agree, but they made movies about Indiana basketball from what Night built. His 3 titles from 1976-1987 were legend, as was his 11 Big Ten titles, and throw in 1 NIT title. He left in 2000 so they have a 10-20 year period to keep up their blue blood status. I am giving them until 2020, but for all reality, they are gone from that spot

Wade went to school at Clemson. I’m sure that could be a potential suitor down the road.

Of the Major programs that would have something to sell, I could see Arizona or UCLA or Texas reaching out in the next couple years.

Duke/UNC/Kentucky/Kansas/Michigan aren’t changing coaches anytime soon.

Clemson supposedly went through back channels to gauge Wade's interest before LSU hired him, and he passed b/c he wanted the LSU job more.

Tell that hoe to stop being so concerned and get back on the stroll for that cash. If she don't listen just drop her and get another.

0% odds that Wade leaves. Unless we do not invest. Btw none of the top ten programs would come after him right now. The old top ten team trying to get back might. To me this is a Billy Donovan at Florida situation. He is going to stay a good while

Moscona and Culotta were talking about this yesterday on W&W and brought up some good points. First being that it will never be a money thing, LSU can pay Wade what anyone else could so a more prestigious program would have to be the selling point.

The second was the state of these current programs. The first school was Duke, and their feeling was when Coach K retires he will hand pick his replacement, and it will either be someone on staff already, or at the very least someone with ties to Duke.

They brought up Kentucky, and short of Calipari leaving for the NBA, which would take the stars perfectly aligning, he's only 60 and not likely to leave anytime soon.

They brought up Kansas, and similar to Kentucky, Bill Self is only 56 and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Then you have North Carolina, Roy Williams is getting up their in age and by the time he decides to hang it up Will Wade could have LSU really rolling. The kicker with them is, they haven't hired a coach without ties to the school in 50+ years. As far as I know Wade has no ties to UNC, so his hire there would have to really break some school traditions.

They said the bigger threat may be the NBA. If Wade really gets this program going, teams could take a liking to him similar to what they did with Brad Stevens.
