Anybody have any experience fishing this place? Only information I have been able to find is that it is indeed open to fishing and has a waterpark.
Family has some property in the area (3 hour haul) but wouldn’t mind making the tow if the fishing is worth it.

Fishing isn’t very good. You could probably bump into a few but it’s not very well regarded. Little Black Creek is a little better, but it’s pretty slim pickings for consistency in that area of the state until you get into the river systems to the south. There are quite a few small public lakes but they get absolutely hammered with pressure. You’d do much better a little further west where Ross Barnett gives the crowd a place to go.

Maynor creek used to be a nice bass lake . Not sure if still the case. We used to fish the Pat Harrison waterway lakes a good bit when I was growing up.

There is good bass, crappie, and bream fishing but it is pressured so it is not easy. If all you know to do is beat the banks you prob wont be to successful. Fish the deep brush piles with plastics and crankbaits and you can have a great day. I have had some awesome days there catching multiple 5+lb bass and I am certainly no bass fisherman. The crappie fishing can be really good too but again you gotta work for em but there are some fine ones in there. Best fishing there will be finding a bream bed but if bass is what you are looking for there are some really good fish in the lake most people just cant or wont fish for them off the banks. Get on the brush piles in 12-20ft of water and you will be surprised at the number and size of the bass you will catch.
