I've met Charlie a few times and he seems like a pretty good guy to me aside from his clear gambling problem
I usually agree with just about everything he says too. that might just be because Jimmy is always wrong though

We needed help in the trenches, and we got some, but not enough.
My issue is, knowing we need to get better in the trenches (see O after Bama loss), Bama knows he's right. It's the difference between us and them. The trenches.
So Saban takes Ish when he doesn't even NEED him. But he knows WE need him and he could close the gap. It's like Bear Bryant tactics all over again.
I'm not mad at O or the staff for this class at all, or even for missing out on elite DL. It's just frustrating to see Bama take what we need even when they don't need them.

I get what he means... Orgeron is a DL guy and we aren’t closing. I’m hopeful on Cherry and Cotton. I’m upset we didn’t get Sopsher. But this is a really good class when you look at what is on the depth chart

Exactly. People just get too emotional and want a "win" over someone. Our wins came months ago with the rest of the class. We closed out with some really talented players today. We'll work on DLine again next season.

I get that. These rankings aren’t exact though. I think Ika will be better than Ish. Ish looks lazy sometimes on film

You can’t recruit 1 elite DL class every 4 years and not expect issues.

Great class
But it was a whiff on the DL as a whole and it was a major need.
To be regarded as the best recruiter and best DL coach, he has whiffed in this department.

Exactly. I mean we knew a year ago this was going to happen. Now some of these nitwits are acting like the World ended.
LSU got IKA and guess who LSU took him away from? Bama was 2nd. LSU had a Hell of a day and got some real help on the OL at Tackle which was probably the biggest need on the team.
All in all LSU has at least the #5 class and with another signee may pass A&M at #4. Excellent class.

Just needed more elite DL talent and drives me nuts because that little midget didn't even NEED anymore, but took him because we needed him. Just how I see it. Same last year with Surtain to a lesser degree. Not that they didn't need him, but it was (at the time, not knowing Fulton would become eligible) CRIPPLING to LSU to take him.

Will somebody tell me what else Orgeron could have done to get this kid? He did everything a couch could legally do. What about last weekend's 3 day visit for Sopsher and his family? All the calls and visits he made?
Think about how degrading it is for a successful person such as Ed have to literally kiss the butts of these prima donna 18 year old football players. These players should have the integrity not to drag this drama out to the final minutes of signing day. Orgeron and his staff did a very good job with this year's signing class so give credit where credit is due.
