Fun fact, there is a movie about the challenger disaster that was released in the past year. It features none other than Les Miles and a semi-major cast member

I was in Fort Knox, Kentucky playing in the snow. I remember that just as vividly as 9/11.

Brandon, MS at school in the 4th grade. We found out about the shuttle when we went for our weekly hour-long library period. It had just happened about 15 minutes before we got in there. We were just watching the breaking news reports in shock.

Watching it on TV in elementary school.

You know that giant TV cart with the rabbit ear antenna and a VCR on the 2nd shelf. They would push it around for classrooms to share.

I was in 3rd grade. We were eating lunch in the cafeteria when the principal told us what happened over the intercom. She was crying. I remember that night, watching the news, and they showed the explosion over and over again. As an 8 year old, it was my first experience with tragedy. I will never forget it.

I skipped school, I was mildly sick...

Was driving my remote control car around the living room...
We had 33 cable channels, it was on NBC, they announced the launch, then cut to it...and it blew up...

I woke my mother and she went super emotional, calling Brokaw a twit, etc.

My career in the AF swung here and there with the Challenger Commander's (Dick Scobee) son...now his kid is the top dog in AF res Cmd, and he lives right down the road from me.

Small universe.

At home watching live on TV. There was no school that day due to snow.

I didn't realize until I read up on it today it's suspected 4 of the crew survived the initial explosion and were killed by the fall.

Boarding school, watching it in the rec room. It was right after the Super Bowl, so I remember a couple of the really lucky/rich kids were wearing their new Super Bowl XX shirts and sweaters.
