I agree, the big question is what do those of us who are conservative do about it? I'll be honest, the only thing really keeping me here in the U.S. is family. I'm not married, I don't have any children, not a big friend network. I own a small townhome and that's it.
My parents are in their 70s so most likely they will both be gone in the 15 - 20 years. Hopefully it's longer but being realistic. They probably leaves me in my early 50s. Not old enough to retire but still enough time (hopefully 30 years) to really establish myself in a new country.
Once both my parents pass away I truly do believe I'll leave the U.S. unless the country does a complete 180. I want to start preparing now but the question is where do you go?

But where in the hell else could you go? The world is a train wreck that has been programmed to hate the success of American and its citizenry.

My suggestion to you is to get married, have kids, make friends, turn off the news, and enjoy your life. Or, if you're not the marrying type, make friends and get some goals worth living for. You only get one shot at it. Get off this website if its holding you back. Make a life for yourself. America is a great country. You're planning on leaving in 15-20 years when your parents die and you're in your 50s. That means you're in your 30s. Get busy living.

quote:There is nowhere more conservative than the U.S. with anywhere near the same quality of life. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Western Europe, Japan, and South Korea all have good quality of life, but are generally less conservative than the U.S. (the exception being social issues in Asia and some other caveats). Most middle-class Americans pay an effective tax rate of less than 10%, which is not too bad considering the economic opportunities and general quality of life here. Democratic Socialism can be implemented better here than elsewhere, but that will require compromise on part of many with disparate views. I’m not counting on it being smooth sailing until the boomers are no longer in control.

You also have not traveled much if you think the grass is greener in pie in the sky land.
A challenge for the self loathing here, name a first world country with lower taxes and a higher standard of living than the USA, I will hang up and listen.
