Was cabin 5 the fancy one that they put the doctors in? I only got to live there for about a week and a half.

4, 5, and 6 are downtown. 7, 8, and 9 are uptown. 10 is the plaza where the docs live.

I’ve been a few times . . .ha

Good luck whit. It took me a few tries to get it, but once I did, it was the best thing I ever did.

Send him letters. Call if you can. Send him books especially if his DOC was alcohol, This Naked Mind.

There's a lot of discussion regarding drinking in moderation during recovery. Most alcoholics can't just have one. The reason why most alcoholics drink is to numb something they are dealing with. When I drank it was to get wasted and drunk and forget about the ex that abused me. Now I wasn't physically dependent on alcohol. I only drank at night after the kids were asleep to fall asleep myself and forget about the loneliness. Then I woke up the next morning feeling like crap and did it all over again.

I realized it was an endless cycle that had no purpose. Why was I drinking? What was the point? To get a buzz, to get drunk and to forget.

, is it possible for alcoholics to come back afterwards at some point and be social drinkers? A beer here or two beers there?

apparently not. got a buddy thats been sober for 8 years or something and wont touch anything. said it will spiral out of control in no time.

If drinking is a behavioral problem, it's possible

If it's an addiction, it's not possible. You can so it once, maybe, but I doubt many people have been successful

I guess I asked, because I had an uncle who was a highly functioning alcoholic for years. He was classic small-town horse-trading kind of guy. His line of work as far as the IRS goes was as a house painter, in reality he was a loan shark. He quit drinking and stayed sober for 17 years. I guess in his mid-sixties he went to his doctor and said after I cut the yard sometimes I'd like to have a beer. What do you think? and the doctor says if you can have one have it, at your age. So he returned to drinking but it was only beer, never more than 2 and not every day. He get on his tractor once a week cut his yard in the summer and would sometimes have a beer but even then it was not every time. I know the whole deal can be emotionally driven but it's all chemicals as I understand it and I guess they all react differently with people.

Just wondering..

I’m pretty sure I could just have one or two like with dinner, but why? Why would I want to? I guess after reading books I don’t understand why.

Alcohol is the only drug where you’re shamed for not drinking. You don’t go to parties and people say, why aren’t you shooting uo herion. But I constantly get asked and judged for not drinking.

I guess I’m to the point in my sobriety where I don’t understand why I would just want one drink.

My uncle, rest his soul, was an alcoholic. I had never drank with a real one before and haven't since.

It was the oddest thing how after just a drink you could see his eyes change, his demeanor somewhat. Very strange.
