Again I ask why is this Rodney thing even brought up? Didnt he drop out of JUCO this year and hasnt played football since high school? How can he get into any D1 university?
Becaue Alabama is a superior program and Ed Orgeron is using home and family to try to land the number 1 defensive tackle in the country.

No, he's a useless initial counter taking one of 25 initial counter spots.

There was concern over wasting initial counter spots on Alexander and Tracy last offseason and now some people are just saying "frick it, let's take this semi-functional resource drain just for the shot at getting his brother"

If he went to JUCO because he was not eligible, then you would be correct.

If he was eligible and went for developmental reasons, then he would be eligible at a 4-year school.

Do you know the answer?

Lol. Lanard was the #1423 ranked player in the country.

247sports gave Lanard Fournette a grade of - 78
247sports gave Rodney Sospher a grade of - 78

Keep spinning that false narrative though

Rodney is literally not playing football right now. Congratulations on their 247 grades though you ignorant dipshit

ETA: those aren’t even their correct rankings. Lanard was ranked literally twice as high as Rodney. “Keep spinning that false narrative though”
quote:

He’s the number one defensive tackle in the country and Jimbo Fisher, Nick Saban and Ed Orgeron are selling out for him

Sweet. They all sold out for Anthony Johnson and Chris Davenport too
quote:

Well I strongly disagree with you. We need elite lineman to begin competing with Bama again, if it takes 2 scholarships to land Ishmael then you do it. No question.

By the way our coaching staff agrees with me on this one

Our coaching staff agreed on passing up Mario Goodrich to take a swing at Pat Surtain, along with slow playing Etienne to take a swing at Cam Akers. Their evaluations can be wrong, and they’ve done some really stupid shite in the past because of the 5* obsession too so I’m not really sure how this helps your case
quote:

So the “tards” on here are freaking out about the ranking? Where are the “all accounts” of him being lazy coming from again? Because once again- all the major players in college football are making him a top priority, but I’m sure you know much better with your evaluations

Literally every single person who’s ever seen him play in real life? Do you think they’re just making it up for fun or something? People would be giving him more credit if it was due.

Do you understand how recruiting works btw? Do you honestly think they’re recruiting Sopsher because he’s a hard worker? They’re recruiting him because he has a ton of raw talent and they’re taking a huge gamble and hoping they can whip his arse into shape in college, which probably won’t happen a la Montgomery, Johnson, Davenport, Valentine, Shelvin, etc. Taking a guy like that with attitude and work ethic issues when we need a sure thing would be idiotic, but the coaching staff has made idiotic decisions in the past so who am I to judge?
quote:

i love when people say this shite. Oh let’s just go find 2 - 4*s and throw them in the class, no big deal. It’s not that easy, we’ve been trying to get that done in this class and have struck out

So let’s just give up and go all in on a kid who’s probably going to Bama while we have to take his brother who, again, is playing as much football as I am right now. Because that worked out so well with Akers and Surtain and all. In half of your post you’re touting the coaching staff, and in the other half you’re saying that we’ve boxed ourselves into a corner and struck out so many times and so badly that we don’t even have other options on the DL despite one commit. Is the coaching staff omniscient with their evaluations and planning or do they frick up sometimes? Make up your mind, genius. Everyone with half a brain knows that Ish + Rodney would be a huge fricking mistake and I really don’t care if your dumb arse disagrees

Why is offering Rodney a gray shirt not acceptable?

Don't take up a scholie and make sure everything is paid for

I think it is a red herring. Ish will sign with either LSU and Bama in the end, and his brother will not play D1 football. One of the two program might find a way to help his brother afford college enrollment, however.

No he’s a d lineman and we are a school who needs d lineman. Per our former d line coach/recruiting coordinator and now head coach we don’t have good enough lineman on both offense and defense. Well one guy provides depth and a nice opportunity for development and allows you to get the number 1 DT in the nation. We currently have a long snapper on our 25. There’s room.

Losing a scholarship to the brother is a small price to pay for a 5* DT and help end the Amite -> Bama pipeline.

I have mixed feelings about the potential package deal (and package deals in general). If they are used at all it should be extremely rare, especially if the other player is not a recruit that would otherwise be signed.

I think this recruit is very important from a PR and momentum standpoint. Orgeron needs to protect the top in state players from Alabama, and reclaim the Amite area.

So, I guess I am cool with this package deal. The fact is there is dead weight all over every roster in America. There are situational players, special teams only players, etc. If the Sopsher brothers both come and Rodney can't hack it, he can be processed.

Maybe I’m different but if I’m Rodney and the only reason you are giving me a scholarship is because of my brother I am saying I appreciate what you are doing but no thanks.

If you are correct, then it's a moot point and we are wasting time talking about it.

Wouldn't be the first time this board got all in a lather of false information, or a story line that had not chance of happening.

If you were offered that opportunity, you'd be thinking and feeling a lot differently than you are as someone completely disconnected.

So a guy that hasn't played organized football in two years and couldn't get on the field at two different JUCOs is the answer?

There is nothing that will make me think that offering Rodney is a good thing. I honestly don't think the positive impact that Ishmael could have at LSU could offset the time and energy it would take to keep him in line alone, not even taking into account dealing with his brother.

I know eh point you ae trying to make, but why disparage an important recruitvat a position which could impact a game winning kick if not executed properly. Expending a scholarship every four years for a snapper is well justified.

That spot is going to disappear if Ish doesn't show up.

He could fax it in, then Ish could send the fax to Bama, and that fax from his brother won't matter.

I believe it was Divinity a couple of years ago being insistent about a teammate of his getting a scholarship to LSU or he wouldn’t sign. In the end he relented and signed without the teammate Don’t know how wedded to the idea Sopsher is though. Is it possible to give Rodney a preferred walk-on and a scholarship or job to pay his tuition? Saves a scholarship. Just askin

He never played JUCO football, so it would have to be high school.

Rodney has no business receiving a scholarship from an SEC school - not even Vandy. So unless your position is that Ish is so good he is literally worth 2 schollies alone, you are just talking nonsense. I actually feel bad for Rodney in this case, so many critical eyes on him essentially because of his brother.

"provides depth and opportunity for development" - what a fricking joke.
