Obviously Kendall Briles, but Sterling Gilbert at USF is a good candidate. Also, no HC is taking an OC job regardless of money. Lost all credibility by suggesting so.

I am as upset about the results of the Bama game and our season long O troubles as anyone, but do we really want our 3rd OC in 3 yrs??

Anyway, Coach O has already told us that even with LSU having almost the worst O in the SEC 9 games in and being shut out by Bama twice, Coach E is doing a “great” job.

Orgeron is setting up SE to max out his retirement, once his contract expires at the end of next year.

Hiring a young, firebrand Co-OC at the end of this year, as an OC in waiting, makes perfect sense. It will be justified by both the exit of Sullivan and the weak statistical showing of the offense.

Look for K. Briles to get a full vote of confidence from both Applewhite and Kiffin, and come on board, possibly in time for post season play.

I don't see why you would think ensminger is coming back. time has passed. there may be someone out there who is a good fit. ensminger didn't want the pressure and still doesn't want it, although otherwise i'm sure he loves the job. it could be mutually agreeable if the right candidate was there.

as for no HC taking an OC job, it would be very reasonable for kiffin to figure FAU is not a stepping stone to a major HC job. however, if he came to lsu as OC with a 2 million dollar salary and helped beat alabama 2 out of 3, well, he would be in great demand.

you never now. at any rate, if we can make a big improvement on the oline we could easily have a top 30 offense next year.

idn't Sterling Gilbert want to bring his OL coach and O said no then Grimes left?

That was misinformation that was leaked from football ops. The choice was always going to be Ensminger.

He started the offensive output at Alabama.

He if that’s not a stepping stone LSU won’t be.

Kiffinnisnt coming here. He is 44 he has time to build a program as FAU and then take another job.

Not sure why the OP got downvoted.

Given the choice, I'd probably want to go with the Washington offense. It's balanced, dynamic and it fits with a lot of the personnel LSU already has.

Yurcich and Briles are excellent options, as well, as long as O will let them take the reigns.

How many of these guys are yes men? Because the only person he will hire is someone to suck him off.

Not that it matters, unless E resigns he’s gonna be back next season.

Why is everyone convinced ensminger is coming back? He didn’t want the job to begin with, and hasn’t done great. He could go back to TE’s or possibly retire.
I always thought he was just a bandaid to patch things up for a year because there were no great options last year. I think a change will be made, probably by mutual agreement without firing ensminger.

Hugh freeze is the obvious choice because:
A. He is the best hire
B. He will be oc at auburn or on Alabama’s Shadow staff next year if we don’t.

A couple thoughts. Sullivan is on a 1 yr contract for 450K at which time he will retire. Ensminger is on a 2yr contract for 800k.

Is it possible that there has been an agreement in place that these two were put in place for a transition. 2019 Joseph takes over as the WR coach and LSU hires a young or rising OC to take Sullivan's place as the Co-OC passing coach with Ensminger for 2019 and then gets promoted to full OC for 2020 and a smooth transition is complete with E retiring or taking an admin position in 2020.

Chaney is trash.

Orgeron needs to go all in on a young guy like Stoops did with Lincoln Riley. Tim Cramsey (Marshall), Kendal Briles (Houston), David Yost (Utah State), Tim Albin (Ohio) or my favorite, Graham Harrell (North Texas) make my short list.

Oh I agree, and i would love to hire kiffen as an OC here, have complete confidence in him, but ego's are at stake here, hes not going to work for man that worked under him.. not gonna happen... Briles is the offensive mind that Ive always wanted... Spread offense, with a power run game... counters, etc... My dad coached against Art Briles when he was at Stephenville, said the three brightest coaches he ever coached against were Art Briles, Chad Morris, and Scott Surratt... one of those guys still coaches high school in Texas... and Surratt has had plenty of offers...

why is a top tier offensive coordinator going to come to LSU where they just canned someone who is considered very good at their position because the hc didn't understand his offense and wanted to institute his own.
If I had my pick of anywhere I would not choose LSU.
Not trying to be a troll just looking at it from their perspective.
