Not sure what you are reading there guy because everyone on this board has been aware of sopsher being a heavy bama lean for quite a while now. I like most others believe that Bama has him wrapped up as it is and we will be missing out on yet another big time kid from that part of the state. But he will be replaced by another highly ranked player in this class or the next and trust me when I say that his absence will not be nearly as missed as some think it will be. Now Lee is a much more attainable prospect at this point and many think LSU is in the lead with him as of now, but he will like many others come down to NSD and we will just have to see where his heart ends up being in that time period. But like sopsher, even if Lee goes elsewhere LSU will find prospects out there either locally or nationally to take his place and a first rate talent will end up in that slot in the end. There are plenty of fish in the sea guy....for every kid we miss like Hootie Jones in the state there is a Jamal Adams just waiting to take his place. LSU will be fine with or without either one of these kids. And honestly I would stop trying to sell us on sopsher so heavily, you're honestly just looking like a moron to just about everybody in the board who know just as much if not more than you and all of us are against your opinion...maybe that should tell you something dude.

The max per class is 25. This has been in place for quite some time.

However, if you don't sign your max in one year, you can use those spots the next year by filling them with early enrollees.

Alabama signed 22 guys last year. As long as they have three early enrollees, soiler alert: they will, they can sign up to 28 players this year.

None of the "new rules" had any impact on this.

Ok, the person I was responding to was talking about Bama processing people to open spots. That's no longer an option correct?

Well you originally replied to me, but the post above mine was about processing.

What that person meant, was Saban will push some of their lower rated commits out to make room for higher rated commits.

This is absolutely still something that's done, even by LSU. But once they sign, they count towards your scholarship limit regardless of whether they make it to campus or not.

Theres no sense continuing to try to explain to people the counting rules anymore. They read a headline and it sticks and even when told multiple times or even shown the wording of the rule they dont get it. Its just like the news these days. People read a headline, with no research of the full story, and thats all thats talked about ignorantly. Ita the reason headlines are written the way they are. Impact and to push a narrative.

I’ve known LSU had an uphill battle for Sopsher ever since I saw the famous jr day pic and he was standing off to the side.

Body language and actions speak much louder than words.

I'll probably keep trying to educate.

It's hard to blame people when you can easily Google this and 247 still has an article up written by Sonny Shipp spewing the wrong information.

Most people aren't belligerent about it like that guy a few weeks ago.

Y'all should do a sticky post with links like the money talk board. Then you could just send people to read up. MT

Maybe the case for DB's but when you miss big time in state guys on the lines where we are thin it hurts a lot more than you think.

One thing not being discussed is how many players on the team will have to leave to make room for the 25 or 28. How many seniors of juniors going pro does each team have? Is keeping a jr. another year more valuable than getting a freshman? This is where the true processing takes place. Some schools will pull a scholarship offer from a committed kid, but you are taking a chance of alienating that school for a long time. With LSU, it is rare that enough seniors are on the team at the end of the year to make room for 25 new players. I would like to see the day when we can only offer 15. That would mean the upperclassmen that are good enough to turn pro stay for their senior year.

You might be one of 10 people that think this. Almost Every person who follows him and recruiting thinks otherwise.

gotcha. I thought "processing" was basically taking a scholarship away from an existing player.

We're going to have a lot of work to do. We'll only have 13 spots open before juniors start declaring for the draft.

The word "processing" is used to describe both scenarios. I'm like you though, and normally think of processing as taking scholarships from existing players and "making room" as pulling offers from recruiting class commitments. However, in the context it was used in this thread, processing was about making room in the signing class.

That's what happens.

Teams load up on commitments, then better ones indicate they want to sign, the lesser guys get pushed out to make room for the better guys.
