Her and her flight lead were scrambled to intercept flight 93 after they lost contact with the cockpit. Unfortunately they did not have time to arm the F-16 Vipers before they took off so the only course of action they had to bring it down was to ram the airliner's control surfaces with their wings and hope to have time to eject after impact. The passengers brought the plane down before they could intercept.

They were scrambled but werent briefed as to why so they had no weapons on board. Only option would have been to use their planes to stop the hijacked airliners using whatever means were necessary

She was called to go ram her plane into 93. While in the air, the passengers of 93 took control and crashed their plane in the Pennsylvania field. If they didn’t Heather was going to ram her plane into 93.
