Might have more luck finding out if your router is running openwrt firmware or something similar then reading about that.
You might want to be aware that Netflix and other streaming sites might not work on PIA. Netflix blocks vpn servers regularly so be prepared to play help desk if there's other members of your family on that network

I would imagine if he used openwrt he might be able to do some sort of port forwarding where Netflix could go around the tunnel.
