I think most of the O supporters are sidewalk alumni that are Cajuns and grew up LSU fans. I know a whole lot of LSU grads I went to school with and otherwise. I can only name a small, small handful that thought the O hire was good. Those guys have quickly changed their minds too.

Now, 8-4 is considered a good season.

8-4 for this season would be indicative of a decent coaching job.

That doesn't mean 8-4 is a reasonable standard for the program.

Honestly, a good number of fans, you included, are unable to grasp that those are two very different things.

Yes it is. But, LSU is not a decent job. It's an excellent job, bordering on elite. Decent records and coaching performances aren't acceptable.

You misunderstand.

8-4 would be representative of a solid coaching job for this team this year.

OrGeron is 17 and 6. He just got a wn against a top ten team. We had fallen way down in talent on the line of scrimmage. The line of scrimmage is reloaded. He has reloaded the QB recruiting pipeline. We have a QB now finally.

bullshite. Good coaches win the games they’re supposed to win and go .500 on the others. That’s 8 wins and go 2-2 vs. Miami, Bama, Uga, and Auburn. 10-2 or get the frick out.

A little overly simplistic, but I'm down with this. Sounds good in theory anyway. I think the ESPN FPI has us as an underdog in more than 3 more games though.

Our offense is a disaster.

I have a feeling this opinion will change this Saturday. LSU got off to big leads in both games played so far and they held back the playbook after getting the large leads. Holding the playbook makes the defense look good. Keep running vanilla and generic plays and the defense eventually finds the weak point. I think the passing game is wide open this weekend.

Your whole premise is wrong. 8-4 is not mediocrity in the SEC. 6-6 is. 8-4 or 9-3 is top 3-5 in SEC and top 25 ranking. If 8 or 9 wins is mediocrity then Miles is the poster child of what you accuse Ed O of.

However, I want to see LSU at Alabama's level where 11 wins are the avg. That's a playoff team every year. But I haven't seen enough of Ed O's program to say positively that he CAN'T do that. And you haven't either. He deserves this year to get to 9 wins. If he does, then let's see if he gets to 11. Why change coaches after two years.

Most of you negatigers are never gonna accept O even if he wins a natty. It's like Saban said, to many fans a perfect season is a National Championship with the backup QB and the coach gets fired.

Yep that's what everyone has done. People that don't have a say in the hiring process and aren't huge boosters have accepted mediocrity. People that make no decisions and aren't asked for their opinions are now ok with 6 and 6 seasons. Yep accepting mediocrity makes perfect sense.

so if we went 4-4 in sec play to give us a 8-4 overall record that is not MEDIOCRE??

I see your point. I really do.

However, honestly, I'd prefer to be wrong about Aranda and suffer through a couple bad seasons than let who I think could be the next great college football coach slip through our fingers

He should've been hired in the first place over Orgeron. He's more qualified in nearly every aspect.

But I agree with the guy you quoted. I just feel like the new board is going to want an outside hire, not that I agree with the rationale behind it. I just have a feeling that's what will happen.

Supposedly, according to one of the few TD insiders that seem to have track records, Aranda passed bc he felt he wasn't ready yet.
