Still looks a little too far North to unload I-10 too much. Unless a good chunk of the freight traffic is Atlanta to/from Houston, in that case US69 to I-14 looks shorter than US69 to I-10/I-12 through Baton Rouge and up I-59.

This would get coastal traffic from Cali. off of I-10 at Fort Stockton and avoid San Antonio, Houston, Beaumont, Lake Charles and Baton Rouge. How could this NOT be a boon?
Plus connecting the military bases more directly has always been a directive of the interstate program.
