I really wish you had a supervised detox in a professional setting, but understand the stigma and costs. Also a lot of professionals don't spend the time and use replacements.
Try not to take the suboxone. It's a replacement and if you have been on opioids for years then you will be on suboxone for years. Suboxone saves lives and gets people to get through without OD'ing, but abstinence is possible. You will be surprised at how much better your pain is when you are off of the pills. Expect Flu like symptoms for a week or so. It'll suck!! But you can do it. Treat your symptoms respectfully. Imodium for diarrhea, tums, regular Tylenol. Lots of fluids. Get out every day if you can and walk. Good luck!! Praying for you.

No im not saying I didn't go through any withdrawals, I'm just saying it was manageable and I didn't feel like I was going to jump out of my skin. There really is no need to go cold turkey with opiates anymore. It's a fckn living nightmare that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

I am not sure whether I would be more scared of sickness or of possible failure. regardless, you have taken the hard step of deciding to face the problem and kick its arse and I commend you for that. you may be saving your own life and don't even know it. I am sure that you have researched the shite out of this. I have never really dealt with anything like that before. Do you expect to be sick or what?

It’s starting.. and yes I know I will be sick from it.. just have to hang in there

There’s no such thing as pure Percocet. Percocet is a brand name for oxycodone mixed with acetaminophen

Thanks for the clarification.

I get the impression that pure Oxycodone is simply no longer prescribed to patients due to this abuse crisis. What follows from that is that addicts are now forced to obtain Oxy on the black market, because physicians are no longer prescribing it.

This is not an important point to the OP, and, of course, he has our universal support and good wishes. He's got a great family support network and his prospects for recovery seem very good.

Buspar can help with withdrawal. Make sure someone is with you to check on you.

Stay focused on the light at the end of the tunnel. It's not as far away as you think. Many others have done it and you will too. Proud of you man!

Buspar (buspirone) is as effective as methodone in reducing withdrawal symptoms. It is non-habit forming, can be dropped cold turkey, and has no major side effects. It has helped someone I know reduce down big time.

EDIT: The problem with subs is that you are replacing a habit with another habit. Seriously, see if you can get a prescription for buspirone. You can even claim mild-anxiety.

Landmass thanks brother. I will look into that. I haven’t taken the Suboxone yet. The friends I have that detox used the Suboxone for 28-30 days and slowly tapered off it by taking smaller and smaller pieces. Both have been clean for over 2 years. I wish I would’ve done it with them. But at that time I was only taken what was prescribed to me. Now I’m like a pill monster. I take mine plus I spend quite a pretty penny to get more..only to get mine and then do it all over agin. It’s never ending it’s stressful it’s expensive and to tell you the truth it doesn’t help with my pain like it use to
