Slogans and the color of your skin win elections in BR and Nola. You don't have to do a single thing, for some for over 30 years, in either city to actually better the constituents...just need the slogan and skin color.

Example?

I don’t want to give a direct example tbh. I can tell you that she’s made some personnel changes in some agencies that were dropping the ball and forcing other groups to pick up the slack.

Not true. You have to create committees, action teams, and community councils.

I understand being skeptical, and I am as well. But I’m telling you LaToya has city hall up in arms right now. She’s def making changes. Whether they’ll be good or not I can’t say, but she is trying to get more efficient over there.

Lol. She was out pandering all day for the zulu shite by bayou st john, and the very next weekend that whole are flooded.

This would be great, but the corruption in Nola is at all levels of Gov't and in every department and agency. It's going to take more than one seemingly well-intentioned Mayor (with a questionable past, herself) to fix the problem. The corrupt never agree to limit their own influence, power, and entitlement. Heads are going to have to roll, and that's where Cantrell can win over some people.

I don't speak no jive, but I'm pretty sure that's not what she was trying to say.

His mortgage company should reimburse him and they deal with city.

That's definitely what she was trying to say and it wasn't jive at all.

It sounds like something an executive at my Fortune 100 company would say.

However, I have no idea if she understands their meaning or if she has any plans to back the comment up. I don't like LaToya, but this comment made sense in a vacuum and if a respected, intelligent person said it, people would say it makes perfect sense.

I'm sure someone who works for her fed her the line and she regurgitated it.

Totally agree.

I'm just trying to say that her comment, in a vacuum, made complete sense.

Agree with you. It's a mess. I wouldn't want the job no matter its salary.

It's not hard.

By having departments work together, they can share resources and knowledge to better the city.

NOLA has a long history of various departments and agencies NOT working with each other.

That's exactly what she's trying to say.

I know you're playing the passive aggressive "I'm a racist" angle here, but that isn't jive. "Breaking down silos" and "leveraging resources" are 2 very common terms in corporate business, so I have no clue what you think you're saying here, but it's not making sense. In fact, it's making much less sense then the quote in the OP you don't understand.

I think this is where having a relative "outsider" may help.
