Do me a favor. Name me a top 10ish NBA player in the prime of his career that took a discount because of injury..

that’s an excellent question
I’m sure there’s an answer but it’s very rare

this is undoubtedly an unusual perhaps unprecedented situation which is why it can’t be dealt with or discussed in absolutes

Name me a top 10 player who tore his Achilles or had what many consider a very unfavorable injury that signed a max and it was worth it.

You quote Dwight after back injuries, yet he's not close to the player he once was and now on his 3rd team since. Worth it? Nope.

I love boogie, many on here can quote how I honestly think he's gonna return to a good enough form that he's gonna still contribute. But even I wouldn't offer him a max because the risk is way too high otherwise. Something has to give, either the length of the total value. Give him the max and you're bidding against yourself.

Let the market decide his value and go from there. That's what we did with jrue and he took less per year in favor of length. If it pisses him off, so be it. That's the reality of it. If he's healthy, he's getting maxed. But that's the thing, he isn't.

And talking about AD is different. He's your cornerstone and untouchable. Unless it's a patellar injury, I'm still super maxing him.
