Actually, this appears to have happened.
As best I can tell, he indeed told the press (S. Grace), he was "David Duke without the baggage" and was a speaker for one of more white supremist groups.
To Scalise's credit, he later(2014) said that he rejected Duke and his philosophy.

I know the story. Your WaPo link doesn’t change anything.
It was not “hosted” by David Duke. He agreed to speak to many, many groups at the time and the theme of his speech that day was about mismanaged slush funds. He learned later, after the event, that the group was dubbed a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center. That group dubs anything pertaining to conservative values as “hate.”
Your disingenuous posts making it seem that he purposefully attended a David Duke klan-like rally are shameful.

Getting married is not a “basic human right”, it’s a man-made social construct and not having that right has absolutely no tangible negative effect on anyone whatsoever. The constant crying about it is so fricking ridiculous. You and your boyfriend are more than welcome to live together and have relations as much as you please either way
