Getting a Blackstone for father’s day. Family of 4, should I get the 28” or 36” griddle?

Get the 36” you will never regret it.
I cook on mine constantly, makes the best fried eggs. My favorite so far was a philly steak sandwich. Had the butcher slice ribeyes very thin and used all colors of bell peppers and grilled onions with provolone cheese, was out of this world good. Toasted my rolls on there too.
