Brennan should have redshirted last year. Especially in hind sight with him only playing sparingly in 6 games. JM could’ve done that. I have stated that I believe Brennan will stay and compete for the starting QB position. If he does not beat out Burrow, and that’s a BIG IF, then Brennan should redshirt and let Burrow, JM and LN lead the team. This way Brennan will still have 3 years of eligibility after next year. Possibly with a new coaching staff.

I have been thinking that the whole time. Hope our coaches agree.

Yes, best thing for Brennan would be to redshirt and put on the weight. No big deal. Development is a marathon, not a sprint.

I agree with your post, but this line wasn't necessary. You went from a post about Brennen redshirting, and turned it into a Pro O vs Anti O shitfest. Why???

You really think there would be a competition? Maybe an "official" competition for admin purposes, but we know what the results already are.

This. Justin would have been a fine backup.

Whomever wins the #2 will be the #2 -simple as that. We can't predict red shirts - at least not in this particular case.

I don’t see Brennan wanting to wait two years to see the field. And with LN even then is a big ?

Couldn't have planned ahead that the backup wouldn't play much and Brennan should've played more last year.

I’m not saying he should redshirt but Burrow is the classic example of why it pays to get a degree. Kid gets to choose where he finishes school now.

It amuses me when LSU fans get upset over the possibility of MB or LN transferring.

First of all, where are they going? No P5 school is going to give them a sholly. They can watch the spring games just like we did.

Secondly, neither will ever play for LSU because they will both be recruited over.

I for one am smiling because it will be nice to finally have a qb who can ACCURATELY make all the throws.

Let Brennan transfer who cares. Narcisse is will be the back up/wild cat and he'll be the heir apparent

I think one QB leaves, but I also believe, and have said this plenty myself, that Brennan should redshirt. I don't think this is the coaching staff to improve Narcisse into what we need as far as passing goes, so if Brennan stays patient, I see him starting as a redshirt junior with two years to play. Unless something crazy happens, I doubt we pick up some Dynamo QB from high school during these next two years.

Tell that to the geniuses that called Orgeron “Meddling Ed” because he wouldn’t let Matt Canada play him last year.

No reason for him not to if he doesn’t start or play meaningful snaps in first half of season

So you think Brenan will red shirt now, to sit behind Burrow this year AND next year if he stays?

I hope Myles sticks around and redshirts a year - best case for him: he beats out Burrow and becomes a star, worst case: he rides the pine for two years getting bigger and better and becomes the starter in 2020, or, if beat out by a younger stud, he transfers as that year's "Joe Burrow"-type savior for another school and has two years of eligibility.

The way I see it, McMillan is definitely gone. This was his best chance to be a starter and there’s no way he sticks around.

I also think Narcisse will leave and take the Lindsey Scott route - go to a JC where he can play and prove he’s still got “it” and that he’s healthy, and then transfer to a larger school where he’ll have the best chance to play. Narcisse has been sitting for 3 years and he’s not going to sit for 2 more (at least) waiting to play.

That leaves Brennan as the backup, meaning he’ll be unable to redshirt this year. He wouldn’t hit the field until he’s a SR in his last year of eligibility. Heck, he might transfer too

So a guy who was the savior, the man, the guy, etc etc is going to take a redshirt and just smile? If they try to redshirt him, he's transferring. It is the way it is today with all the players.
