If you have the chance to bring in someone who you think might have the talent to help your team you do it.

I don't give a frick about anybody's feelings. They are all grown arse men.

That doesn't mean burrow will actually come in and win the job. But you don't take a pass on him unless you have something certain already in your hands.

I don't know if he's going to be good enough for not either but let's not pretend like our cup runneth over

It's a chess match. The 3 QB's battling for starter will get their feelings hurt and 1 or 2 or even all 3 could make the decision and leave. Then there would be only 1 QB in Burrow and he could leave for the NFL after 1 season. Or a loss or 2 of the qb's before Burrow makes a decision to sign then there would real trouble.

I don't understand why the awesome threads last night got deleted. We were generating a list of posters to get a caravan to greet the kid when he arrives and everything

Wtf??? Posts where you try to support the team and program get deleted now?

I don’t think there is much disagreement.

Apparently questioning the ability of our program to manage this situation without creating a shitshow is considered not wanting him.

Because LSU fans will never be happy.
After the spring game it was constant bitching and shitting on the current QB's, now O want's to bring in a transfer (who may or may not be better than what we have), and now everyone wants to shite on O and Burrow because one of the other QB's that everyone was just shitting on might transfer.

There isn’t any debate. But this is The Rant. It’s basically Main Street for lead- based paint chip eaters. About 20% of the people here can’t figure out even the simplest things.

Because we want to see LSU recruit and develop a QB from freshman to quality starter. That hasn't happened since Flynn, except for Lee's senior campaign.

So you want to take more snaps away from a developing starter, just so we can kick the tires to see why he couldn't start after 3 years at OSU?

He may not be good enough to start here. Nobody hurt right?

Wrong! Someone will transfer. Also, well be weaker at the qb spot because a ton of practice will be wasted on a non starter who doesn'tt have a full grasp of the offense.

So, by him coming here, it could literally be weakening our QB position.

Just another point of view.

To be very very clear, Urbam meyer, who can coach QBs, had this guy for 3 years and couldn't make him into a starter. Period

Wholeheartedly agree. If he can win the starting job outright that stabilizes the LSU QB situation. Yeah, someone may transfer but likely MB and LN stay. Also would give Gunnell something to look at as far as team direction.

The way I see it, bringing in more competition won't hurt. If the other QBs get their feelings hurt than they shouldn't start in the first place.

BTW Who the hell are we recruiting at QB that are so mentally fragile they want to leave when the going gets tough? Matt Flynn wasn't afraid of competition and he ended up with a NC his senior year and signed with the Packers.

I agree that we bring anyone who might help LSU. My issue is with the people acting like he is some All-American with titles under his belt.

He's a career backup who will have to come in and learn a whole new system in two months.

Can he do that AND beat three guys with a 6-month headstart? Possible, but not likely.

Take him, yes, but don't expect him to come in and set the world on fire.

Based on every other graduate transfer, the odds are that he won’t start or be mediocre at best. Most of the successes have been at non power 5 schools

As long as we don't straight up promise him the starting job, I see no reason not to bring him in. I see no way that he doesn't make it a better competition which the whole team would benefit from.

It does beg the question that if the staff is so sold on one of the three quarterbacks currently on the roster being capable of leading this team, why jump into the ring for a shot at bringing in a new, unproven guy at this late date?

Kinda increases my concerns for the coming yr.
