My cast iron has a grease slope all the way around. It's never been a problem for me but again, it really depends on what you cook. The grill gets more use at my house, but others may use a griddle more often.

Can't lie about the fact that Drunk Me likes to put on the apron and play short order cook for all my drunk friends after a good party as well. Probably the #1 reason I got the griddle.
