For what it's worth, too many people say things on the internet they'd never say in real life.
It's one of the worst aspects of the internet. It gives consequence free voice to the ugliness inside. I doubt that's unique to a region or country, unfortunately.
Regardless of where you travel, I hope you enjoy yourself.

Thanks guys.
I know people say things on the internet they would not say in real life. I have been to the USA and never had any real hostility but now I worry that is hidden in a deeply passive aggressive manner and it would make me uncomfortable and ruin my holiday.
I have always wanted to go to Canada so not a major problem in moving a few things around.
Happy travels to yourselves if you are planning anything.
