Hopefully he was a loner who didn't leave behind family or children to deal with the despair. Only a selfish person would do that. Had a good friend do that last year, made me sad for a while, then pissed me off because he left a wife and kids, then his father had a stroke two months later.

Does it make you feel better that he didn't have a wife or kids?

You are expecting someone with mental health issues to think through things and make rational decisions the same as yourself, it doesn't work like that, their brain was malfunctioning.
