I can't help but notice a reoccurring theme,in that it's people who used to shop at LeBlanc's that don't like Rouses.

But the one on airline at Antioch is brand new and is extremely busy everyday, so what gives?

There is also a lack of great options. Leblanc's filled the same niche that Rouses does. They are larger stores with a very wide selection. You could get in there and do your entire weekly shopping, including some of the more hard to find specialty items.

The trouble is aside from Rouses, the options we have out here are fairly limited. There are lots of smaller AP stores, and I try to give them the bulk of my business, but they are often limited in one way or another. So in the Ascension area you get:

Walmart - Usually torture shopping in there. Won't buy meat from there, so that is quite limiting when doing the weekly shopping.

Ralph's - Really stepped up their game in the past 2 years, but very thin selection. Decent meat & acceptable minimum produce selection.

Winn Dixie - This has become my go-to spot lately. If you shop the sales, you can usually make it out of there with some good deals and quality meats. The store is spacious enough to not feel crowded. The bankruptcy will eventually kill this as an option.

Albertsons - Not really in Ascension. I can't get past the foul seafood smell when I walk in there. Maybe a personal preference, but I just despise that store unless I'm in a bind for something I just cannot seem to locate elsewhere.

ETA I should also add
Alexanders - Very high prices unless you shop the sales exclusively. A nice selection of higher-end grocery products. Way too narrow and difficult to navigate with two small kids in tow.

I like the Rouses on Airline and Antioch, but it's obvious that they may want to keep better control of their meat dept., and maybe rethink all of their many prepared foods. Maybe doing less but better tasting prepared foods would be the answer. And all of their own branding is a bit of a turnoff too.

I was actually looking at that pondering whether to buy and another customer said to me, "you don't want that".

I haven’t had any rancid food or milk issues. I thoroughly check meat before I buy it and I won’t buy milk that’s less than 10 days from spoiling.

But we did order jambalaya from Airline for catering (not my choice). The pans were barely filled and it was a watery mess.

Are you still acting like a bitch because I have actual experience in the industry you're trying to act like an expert in?
