the wife has been summoned for jury duty next week and is trying to get out of it. Any suggestions?
I'm coaching track at the moment and she is responsible for before and after school drop off/ pick up of both kids as well as her full time job (she makes double my salary). Any chance she gets out of it?

Tell them you’re drunk. Or actually be drunk.

Your wife should take more pride in doing her civic duty.

In college when I had jury duty in BR the judge made it known that if he felt anyone was intentionally trying to get out of it they would be held in contempt.

It's only a week, just make other arrangements and suck it up

"I can't believe how criminals are getting away with shite!"

"How can I shirk my Civic duties?"

For that, no.

It's really a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of getting to live under the American system of governance. For it to work people have to participate.

Suck it up and do your civic duty. Seriously.

She can kick the can down the road and reschedule to another date, but where I live, they will put out a warrant for you if you don’t show up.

Society is failing because it's smartest people refuse to have kids or serve on juries.

Tell me how I'm wrong.

All she has to do is call the clerk of court and explain that she has to take care of the children due to you being out of town. She then needs to ask if she can be put on a rotation further down the line and they typically will do so.

Kinda seems like she should've done this way before today but she might get out of it.

You tell them "The prosecuting attorney is a family member of mine and I am a strong proponent of the death penalty".

Or "I hate black people".

Say any of those two statements, or both, and you're golden.
