I had this feature in a rental recently and hated it. What happens if I am in Baton Rouge stand still traffic in late July? How well will the AC work while the vehicle is “off”?

Obviously in that situation you turn it off.

Turning on the AC turns off the auto start stop

It will run when it needs to for heating or cooling. It's on a computer system.
