O’s mistake was validating this narrative in the presser yesterday. When he said he’d get a top OC in his introductory presser, he then went and got the hottest name in the country. But it didn’t work out with Canada, so he elevated ‘Minger, who ran the offense pretty well last year (PPG increased substantially, yards per play increased, set the record for total offense in a game, twice set the record for RB yards in a game, etc.).

I am as surprised as anyone that ‘Minger was the choice, but he was a pretty successful OC last year and I’m interested to see if he can repeat that in ‘18. He was, after all, better than Cameron and Canada (an NFL OC and the hottest OC name in college last year, respectively). O is on the hook for this decision, though, and his job may be in jeopardy if he made the wrong choice.
